RARE WELLS FARGO DOCUMENT POUCH WITH AGENT ID. Medium weight leather pouch 8” x 11-1/2” with gusset edges and top flap with snaps and a locking metal clasp. It has a simple leather strap handle on the top. The flap is nicely stamped in 1/4” letters “Wells Fargo & Co.” the lower right side of the front has a rectangular stamp 1-7/8” x 1-1/4” “WELLS FARGO/& CO/EXPRESS/S.F.CAL”. The lower left corner has an oval stamp “WELLS FARGO & CO/S.F.CAL/SPECIAL AGENT”. It is accompanied by a 3-1/2” x 2-1/2” ID card that states “Wells Fargo & Co/Riverfront agent pass” with the name “Robert M. Stephens/Sacramento Office/Express Agent/Pres-6th Ave Office” with the date 1898 and Stephens signature with a small red oval stamp and a picture of a man in the upper left corner. This is contained in a leather-bonded carrier attached by a chain to the bag. CONDITION: The bag is dry and crackled, soiled and stained showing much wear.
