FINE ANTIQUE SCRIMSHAW WHALE’S TOOTH. This very early scrimshaw tooth has work on both sides. Front side depicts a Naval battle with a large British Man O’ War firing on a ship with much smoke. Reverse side having a sailor seated by a large rock with foliage and a three-mast ship in the distant background. Possibly from the Napoleonic period. Nice age patina. SIZE: 6”. CONDITION: Chip to tip and edge of base. Otherwise very good. 9-74488 MDD (3,500-5,000)
