MARTIALLY MARKED COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. Early Henry Nettleton inspected Cavalry revolver with 7-1/2” bbl, bullseye ejector rod head and 1-pc walnut grips with legible cartouches on each side and the date “1878” on the left side. It has a small “U.S.” on the left side of the frame. The various small parts have the “H.N.” inspector marks. SN 41541. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, all matching, including bbl and cylinder. Bbl retains traces of blue around the front sight and under the ejector rod housing with the balance a cleaned artificially aged light patina. The frame has traces of case coloring under artificial aging. The trigger guard and backstrap retain 5-10% blue, being a light gray patina. Grips are extremely fine with legible cartouches and a clear date. The screws are all fine and the cylinder has clean sharp chambers. Brilliant shiny bore. This revolver has had very little if any use, just poor storage and an amateur attempt to restore the finish. 4-49846 JR334 (5,000-8,000)
