EADWEARD MUYBRIDGE (American, 1830-1904) THREE ORIGINAL GELATIN NEGATIVES. All Contained in a period heavy paper envelope which has title and numbers. 1) “Descending Stairs, Turning and Flirting a Fan”. Rare gelatin negative has four rows of six images each showing front and side views. Two rows showing a woman in gown with fan descending four stairs and walking forward, and two rows show the same action from the back view. The negative is marked “Copyrighted 1887, by Eadweard Muybridge” and in right hand corner hand numbered “798”. Handwritten number “9.798” on envelope. Also has written in pen, which appears to be later “Mrs. J.H. James sister of Mrs. George F. Bush, Princeton”. SIZE: 20-1/4” x 13”. 2) “Curtseying Fan In Right Hand-Female Draped”. Rare gelatin negative has three rows; the top two rows with six images each showing a side angle of a draped woman, with fan curtseying. The bottom row having twelve images seen from the back view. The negative is marked “Copyrighted 1887, by Eadweard Muybridge”, and in right hand corner hand numbered “802”. Handwritten number “9.802” on envelope. SIZE: 13” x 20-1/4”. 3) “A. Bell Ringing; B. Teeter Board; C. Military Drill”. Rare gelatin negative has three rows of four images. The top row showing six horses reacting to a bell. The middle row shows horses on a teeter-totter, and bottom row shows eight horses lined up. Unsigned but numbers “644” in right corner. Handwritten number “9.644” on envelope. SIZE: 9-3/4” x 20”. CONDITION: 1) One fold crease to left corner, otherwise good. 2) Good, some wrinkling in top image. 3) Good. 9-73316-2 (500-1,000)
