GEORGE III OAK CORNER WALL CABINET. Second half 18th century. The swan’s neck crest above the dentil-molded cornice joined to the conforming corner cabinet with canted corners, fitted with an astragal-glazed door opening to three shelves, flanked by fluted pilasters on a molded base. SIZE: 45″ h. x 29″ w. x 19-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection, by descent from Dr. Samuel Cox Hooker (1864, Brenchley England -1935, Brooklyn Heights, New York), a sugar chemist, magician, and art collector, to the present owner, his great-granddaughter. CONDITION: Very good overall, with cleaned surfaces. Crest missing finial and rosette terminals, restoration to backboards at the base. 9-94936 (700-900)
