UNSIGNED (European, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST. Oval oil on canvas half portrait shows a young woman holding a painters pallet in one hand and a long brush in the other. She wears an elegant gown and ruby necklace. Her black hair is adorned with a red rose and ivy. Housed in a gesso decorated period frame with black matte having oval cutout. SIZE: Sight: 24-1/4″ x 20-1/4″. CONDITION: it appears that the portrait is laid over another painting and has extensive tears, cracks and lifting with some missing.
