IMPORTANT RARE PAIR OF LARGE CHINESE UNDER GLAZE BLUE STORAGE JARS, MADE FOR THE DOMESTIC MARKET. Late 18th Century. Each of rectangular form with conforming openings decorated overall with scrolling vinery, peonies, conk shells, and dahlias centering a coin roundel. The interiors with ribbed tile construction, the bases signed and numbered (see detail photo). PROVENANCE: Purchased by consignor from a private home in mainland China. SIZE: 16” h x 12” w x 7-3/4” d. CONDITION: Glaze in very fine condition with rich coloring. No evidence of any damages or repairs. 9-90432 HP (20,000-28,000)
