LARGE EARLY PAINTED ROUND WOODEN SHAKER CONTAINER. This 18th/early 19th Century handmade storage container is believed to have been an insert in a wooden firkin or pail thus creating two compartments for storage. Bold wide finger wrapping strap and a similar constructed lid. Appears that there was never another band below the initial band approximately 2” of the original wood side thus making the diameter smaller on the bottom than the diameter of the top. Retains original old green and black painted surface. Stencil on top lid and on bottom “H.F.Lonbaid”. SIZE: Approximately 13” dia x 7” h. CONDITION: Paint has nice old patina with small amount of wear. 9-71854 (350-550)
