GEORGE GUNTHER HARTWICK (American, -1899) THE SKATING POND. Unsigned oil on canvas winter scene shows an iced over mill pond with thirteen figures, some of them skating. The mill is seen in the center with waterwheel and smoke coming from the chimney. The rocky and tree covered ground shown with snow, all under a cloudy sky which has opened in the center revealing blue sky. Housed in a gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 24″ x 32″. CONDITION: Relined on new stretcher, very good with light craquelure and scattered inpainting. 9-95412 (5,000-10,000)
