WILLIS HENRY PLUMMER (American, 1838-) BACK TO PORT. Oil on canvas scene shows the tugboat “Protector” pulling a three-mast schooner through heavy seas. One figure stands atop the bow and the bow shows icicles off its rigging indicating a winter scene. The schooner appears to be in good shape and the scene is shown under lightening gray skies. Signed lower left and dated “1885”. Housed in a gilt wood molded frame. SIZE: 20″ x 30″. CONDITION: Craquelure, some discoloring to varnish. Otherwise very good. 9-95149 (3,000-5,000)
