UNSIGNED (American, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE SCHOONER “WATER LILY”. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows the two-mast black hulled schooner in full sail sailing right to left in wavy sea. A single man in seen behind the ships wheel, the name emblazoned on the side as well as off the tallest mast. Also an American flag is flying. Several sails are seen on the distant horizon. Housed in its original gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 24″ x 32″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Chad Richards, Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Original canvas, surface dirt, discolored varnish layer.
