AN AMERICAN TOLEWARE CANISTER TOGETHER WITH A DEEP OVAL BREAD TRAY. Circa 1850. The canister with cover decorated with a tomato-red, green and mustard-yellow floral spray within a red and yellow lined border, the lid similarly decorated. The tray with pierced demilune grips, decorated in the center with floral spray within spiral twist borders. SIZE: First: 10-3/4″ h. x 8″ dia. Second: 3-1/2″ h. x 13-3/4″ l. CONDITION: The canister with dents and some paint loss in lid, the sides with paint losses, overall alligatored finish. The tray with scrape marks around outside surfaces, the paint decorated interior with alligatoring. Both overall good to very good. 9-90855 (2,000-3,500)
