EXCEPTIONAL KAZAK ORIENTAL RUG, WEST CAUCASUS. Circa 1900. This brilliantly woven example featuring three central diamond polychrome medallions with latchhook edges, bordered by two rows of seven square crab medallions, centering stylized dogs and human figures on a deep indigo field, all within multiple polychrome crab, candlestick and saz leaf borders. SIZE: 7’7″ x 5’6-1/2″. CONDITION: With moderate wear to upper medallion in field at one o’clock; areas of creasing in lower right corner and edge facing, one hole in each corner and some minor losses to selvage and ends. This remains a strong example with vibrant colors, good pile and supple texture. 9-95126 (3,000-5,000)
