FRENCH DRAGOON FLINTLOCK MUSKET.

FRENCH DRAGOON FLINTLOCK MUSKET. NSN. 72 Cal. 38-3/8” part oct bbl. Marked “92 / Ste Etienne / crown / J” on the lockplate in front of the hammer. Inside lockplate is also marked with a “92” and “C. Gabio”. The number “78” is stamped on top of the bbl. The bbl bands and trumpet ramrod are iron. The triggerguard, buttplate and sideplate are brass with the latter engraved. This musket was altered in 1800-1801 from its orig musket length to its current bbl length. CONDITION: Very good. Light gray patina overall. Stock has been repaired at the butt and refinished in that area. Front 12-1/2” of the forearm has been replaced. A new hole has been drilled in the front bbl band for the misplaced band spring. Trumpet ramrod is of the correct length. Edges around the lockplate and sideplate are sharp. Mechanically fine. 4-59184 (2,500-3,500)
