THEODORE ROOSEVELT SIGNED LETTER AND APPROXIMATELY FORTY NOVELS. The letter on “Outlook” letterhead, dated 8.29.11. “Dear Fred, I am more than pleased to be in my own home! Nevertheless I know well just the kind of enjoyment you are having. Give my warm regard to Mrs. Stimson”. One page, 12mo on Outlook letterhead in fine condition with four corrections in Roosevelt’s hand. Accompanied by approximately forty titled (plus some in duplicate) of Stimson’s novels, biographies, children’s books, poetry, dramas, musical lyrics, off prints, scholarly treatises and law books (some of which remain in print). Stimson, a true polymath, was elevated to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1898. His papers are achieved at the Houghton Library and other scholarly repositories which contain his correspondence with Edith Wharton and James and others. This collection is notable for its many signed copies, two finely bound manuscripts, printer’s copies, copies with the author’s hand written revisions, ornate publisher’s bindings and the like. There are numerous items of correspondence from academics, financers, publishers, political figures and others. A most desirable collection.
