GEORGE III CARVED MAHOGANY KNEEHOLE BUTLER’S SECRETARY OF DIMINUTIVE SIZE. Rectangular top with molded edge above the conforming case. Top drawer with hinged front sliding open to reveal an interior fitted with drawers and cubbies above two banks of three short drawers all banded centering an eagle fitted with a central paneled door beneath a document drawer. All on a molded plinth raised on ogee bracket feet. Mid 18th Century. SIZE: 32-1/2″ h x 31″ w x 18-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Retains old dark finish with some minor lifting and losses to veneers. Moldings need reattachments at base. Bales and escutcheons appear to be period within original holes, unclear as to whether they are original to piece. Some splicing to cross banding on top writing surface, some repairs to ogee feet, splits and cracks that have been repaired, pieces appear original. backboards all appear original to piece. Very nice overall condition and color. Repairs and slight damages are well within acceptable parameters. 9-91483 (3,000-5,000)
