C. H. KAHRS (Last Quarter of the 19th Century) PLAYING ON THE RIVER. Pair of pencil drawings. 1) Two young cats are in a wooden butter tub rowing with a wood spoon on the water with a house on a forested hill in back. Two boats are seen in water on the right side with land beyond. Bucket is signed “C. H. Kahrs Aug 31st, 1888”. 2) Two young cats are on wood raft with high cliff banks beyond. Marsh grasses are seen on the right side. Signed “C.H. Kahrs Sept’r 7th, 1888”. Housed in what is probably their original frames which have a bark and vine motif. Each drawing is matted. A wonderful folk art quality. Unusual to find a pair. SIGHT SIZE: 11-1/2” h x 20”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-72550 (2,000-3,000)
