PAIR OF PAUL STORR SILVER COVERED ENTREE DISHES. London, 1817. The matched pair having bases in rectangular form with flat rim decorated with gadrooned edge interspersed with scallop shell and leaf decoration. Marked on end with “P.S.” for the maker and four other hallmarks. One marked “1” and the other marked “2”, both having “89”. Each having a standing stag on each bottom side. The covers having removable handles which have opposing lion head’s on a large flower head. The handles hallmarked with maker’s mark. The covers having a rectangular dome form with a top decoration matching the bottom outside edge. The underneath of the lids have identical borders to the base which allows it to be used without the handle as an open dish. Both lids having identical hallmarks to the base. One top is marked “1” and the other “2”. Also under where the handle attached, one is marked “1 89” and the other “2 89”. The upper sides of the cover having a crest which shows a knights helmet atop a shield with three rearing goats. WEIGHT: 70 tr. oz each. Total being 140 tr. oz. SIZE: 5″ h x 12-1/2″ l x 10″ w. CONDITION: Very good with some light dimpling, light use with knife marks, slight indent at handle juncture which can only be seen from underneath. 9-95754 (25,000-35,000)
