ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE PAINTED AND CARVED GILTWOOD CHEST OF DRAWERS. Circa 1760. The serpentine top above a conforming case fitted with three drawers, painted with flowers on a faux tortoiseshell ground, the relief-carved base raised on gilt pierced scroll and rockwork feet. SIZE: 38″ h. 23″d. CONDITION: Retains old original surface,paint, hardware, backboards, and feet. Loss to an element of right front proper foot 3inches in length.Three shrinkage splits length of top with some warping to top boards. 9-92201 (8,000-15,000)
