GEORGE III OAK AND JAPANNED TALL CASE CLOCK (THOMAS EASTLAND, LONDON). Second half of the 18th Century. The pagoda form hood above an arched glazed door opening to a silvered dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings, strike, silent, and subsidiary seconds dial. Centered by brass foliate scrolled spandrels highlighted with dolphins. Case decorated with Japanned village scene depicting soldiers and children at play with dogs above the square box base with similar panel on a molded plinth. The whole with simulated oak graining. Pendulum, winder, pair of weights and key present. No finials. SIZE: 94″ h x 13-3/4″ throat w x 9-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Case retains overall old finish. Some damage to upper right section of bonnet facing, pediment crack, minor molding losses to side glass panels, some loss to gesso at rear of bonnet. Otherwise case appears all good and original with acceptable age cracks and stresses. Works appear original to case. Face and works shows tarnish and dirt. No visible issues.
