4 DARTING GUN HARPOONS. 2nd half 19th century. Each single-flue toggle iron mounted to the shaft, the opposing end with an iron loop forge welded to the shank just forward of the tapered iron tang. The purpose of the loop was for attaching the whaleline. One tip with stippled mark of the maker’s initials “LR”. SIZE: Ranging 36″ l. to 38-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private collection. CONDITION: All with varying degrees of pitting and rust. Good overall. 9-95070-8 (800-1,200)
