MILLBURY MODEL 1808 FLINTLOCK MUSKET. NSN. 69 Cal. 42-3/8” rnd bbl. Marked “eagle / US in an oval / MILLBURY.” on the lockplate in front of the hammer and the date 1815 horizontal at the rear of the lockplate. It is also marked “MS / ? / P / US / M / 1815” on the bbl and “25” on the top tang of the buttplate and “MS” on the left flat of the stock. 4270 of these muskets were made by Elijah and Asa Waters in partnership with Nathanial Whitmore of Sutton, MA. Many of the guns delivered to the states under the “Arming the Militia act” carried the Millbury address instead of the Sutton. CONDITION: Smooth gray patina overall. Stock has minor dents and scratches. Sling swivels are missing. Ramrod is a replacement. Mainspring and bridle are broken. Hammer is loose on the tumbler. Wm.
