JOHANN MONGLES CULVERHOUSE (American/Dutch, 1820-1891) “THE WEDDING”. Oil on wood panel scene shows bride and groom walking from castle/church across wood planking with torches and men. Horses stand ready and moon peeks through nighttime sky. Signed lower left “J.M. Culverhouse 1864”. Housed in an antique gesso decorated gilt frame. Frame has label from Abraham and Straus, Brooklyn. SIZE: 10-1/2” x 8-1/2”. CONDITION: Some inpainting, scrapes on surface. Generally very good. 9-97469 (2,000-4,000)
