FINE CARVED DISPLAYED EAGLE PLAQUE. Mid-19th century. The plaque, carved from the solid, depicting a fierce displayed eagle clutching a banner in its talons, beneath three 6-pointed carved stars. Feathers and other details finely delineated. SIZE: 19-1/2″ h. x 42-1/2″ l. CONDITION: With stripped and weathered surfaces, retaining vestiges of original gilding, with old shrinkage seam crack right side facing. Now mounted to a later plywood backboard. Carving remains in very nice condition. 9-95542 (2,500-3,500)
