OUTSTANDING AND RARE STERLING COVERED SOUP TUREEN BY PAUL STORR. Oval two handled tureen stands on an oval pedestal base. Dome stepped cover surmounted by a fancy handle. Cover and base having a fancy family crest. Cover hallmarked “PS”. Pedestal base edge marked with “PS” and date mark 1808. A second hallmark can be seen on side of pedestal which we can not discern but appears to be a crown over a _S with a letter stamp and woman looking left. Handles are attached with full lion head masks and have shell and scroll decorations. A gadrooned edge with ribbed bands. PROVENANCE: From a fine Downeast Maine home with ties to the Vanderbilt family. WEIGHT: 153 tr. oz. SIZE: 13” h x 17-3/4” w x 10-3/4” d. CONDITION: Very good. 9-26240 (10,000-20,000)
