ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON 38 SINGLE ACTION 3RD MODEL TARGET REVOLVER. Cal. 38 S&W. Blued finish, 5” keyhole ribbed bbl with pinned half moon front sight and target rear sight, missing the blade. Fitted with round butt, 2-pc medallion pearl grips. Stamped on the left side of the grip frame under the grip is a small diamond and the date “6.45” indicating factory refinish on that date. Bbl is marked “MODEL OF 91” and has the flanged hammer. About 60% coverage fine foliate arabesque pattern and leaf & vine engraving that appears to be factory. SN 16666. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished, retaining most of the dark blue with some fine pitting near the muzzle. Grips are brilliant with the medallions retaining most of their gold wash and with a hairline on the left side. Metal is all matching. Bore is bright and shiny with one spot of rust, mechanics are fine. Hammer sticks in the down position. 4-48104 JR191 (Anderson Collection) (700-1,200)
