INTERESTING PORTRAIT ON IVORY OF SIR JAMES HOME OF BLACKADDER BARONET. 4” x 3-1/4” piece of thin ivory having a waist high pencil portrait of a gentleman with curly hair. On the back is written in pencil which states “A present from Sit James Home from Blackadder Baronet to James Watson 1748”. Housed in a 19th Century square gold frame which has an eglomise piece of glass with black reverse painting having a gold presentation which corresponds to the writing on the back of the ivory and has an oval window which the ivory sets against. Drawing and inscription do not appear to be of the period and probably 20th Century. SIZE: Overall is 11-1/2” x 11”. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Maine home. CONDITION: Examined out of frame. The front glass with cracks. The ivory warped and with a small hole. 9-92942 (200-400)
