ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS H. WILLIS (American, 1850-1925) THE YOUNG AMERICA. Outstanding silk and watercolor picture of a black hulled three-mast American ship. The sails are in silk with watercolor lines. Rigging is in silk thread and the American flag flies off the back mast in needlework. Background color of the ocean and sky is watercolor. Unsigned but carries a name plaque on the fine replacement gesso decorated shadowbox type frame. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good. There is a small slit in the upper sky. 9-71832 (6,000-9,000)
