FINE AND RARE 18TH CENTURY ENGLISH BRACKET CLOCK BY GEORGE GRAHAM, LONDON. This outstanding bracket clock features a handsomely carved ornamental mahogany case. The dial with applied filigreed gilded ornamentation, having a toned silver large dial and smaller dial above, each having black lettering. The backside of the words with scrolled ornamental engraved design and again, signed “G. Graham, London”. Clockworks fitted with striking bell and a chiming mechanism consisting of 8 bells. Complete with key and pendulum. George Graham was one of the finest clock makers of the 18th century. He held membership in the Royal Society and he is credited with the invention of the Orrery. His pendulum clocks, produced during the 18th century, were considered one of the most accurate clocks ever produced up to that time. SIZE: 20″ h x 14″ w x 8″ d.
