KENNETH GAYOSO HOW (American, 1883) “IN PORTSMOUTH HARBOR”. Outstanding oil on canvas harbor scene shows a large dock with buildings with lobster boats beside. A bridge is seen in background with tall steel open towers. Signed lower right “Kenneth How”. Housed in an outstanding wide period frame with snakeskin like texture with outside honeycomb type border. Attached to back stretcher are three exhibition labels. One “Grand Central Art Galleries Inc.”; second is “Bethel Inn Exhibition 1945” and the third being “Allied Artists of America Inc.”. Also attached to back is a plaque “Lay Members Prize for Painting Allied Artist’s of American, Inc. 20-7th Annual Exhibition 1940”. PROVENANCE: Fine private Long Island, New York mansion.
