FINE SCHOOLGIRL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER BY MARY ALLGAIER, 1810. The sampler having a four line verse “Here in this garden here below water me that I may grow and when all grace to me is given then transplant me into heaven”. Above are two sections of flowers, below which states “Mary Allgair her work May 3rd 1810” with flowers, trees and dogs. The flower vine border in green, tan and ivory. The letters in black and the flowers in ivory, green and shades of brown. Housed in a simple veneered wood frame. PROVENANCE: From a Gardiner, Maine home. SIGHT SIZE: 20” x 16”. CONDITION: Generally very good. Some running of colors on bottom section. 9-26069 (800-1,200)
