SMITH &WESSON #3 AMERICAN 2ND MODEL LARGE FRAME REVOLVER W/SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 44 American. Blued finish, 8” keyhole ribbed bbl, pinned half moon steel front sight, smooth 2-pc walnut grips with a “G” stamped on the right side. Grip frame is cut for a stock with one cut at the top of the backstrap and two on the butt. The swivel stud hole is filled with a screw. Accompanied by an original type French Walnut iron mounted detachable shoulder stock with smooth steel buttplate. SN 28807. CONDITION: Fair to good. All matching including the grips with the bbl, latch and cylinder having the assembly number. Traces of original finish remain in the most sheltered areas with the balance a dark brown patina with scattered surface rust. The screws are battered, grips are fine. Bore is bright and shiny with a few spots of rust. Mechanics are good except cylinder latch sometimes won’t engage. Stock is unnumbered. Retains a blue-gray patina over the iron and most of its fine original varnish on the wood. 4-47995 JR80 (Anderson Collection) (2,000-3,500)
