Oil on board shows winter landscape with meandering brook having snow covered banks lined with cinnamon colored birches, farm house is nestled in snow covered hills with taller hills beyond. Signed lower right “Emile A. Gruppe”. An early painting with similar scene and title work illustrated in “Gruppe on Painting, pg. 105; Plate 44. Housed in what appears to be its original gilt decorated gesso frame. SIZE: 24” x 30”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-93414 (7,000-9,000)
