RARE SMITH & WESSON WELLS FARGO 1ST MODEL SCHOFIELD REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Schofield. Blued finish, bbl cut to 5-1/8” with usual markings on both sides of the bbl lug strap. Right side is also marked “WF & CO’S EX 159”. Note the transposed numbers. Normally Wells Fargo numbers match the serial number. 2-pc rosewood grips that are unnumbered but appear to be contemporary with the revolver. There are small inspector marks on various parts. SN 195. CONDITION: Good to very good. Retains 15-20% original blue in sheltered areas with the balance a plum-brown patina over fine pitting. Grips are fine with a small hairline on the left side and a large chip on the right side. Mechanics are fine with strong bright bore and scattered light pitting. Some mildly battered screws and possibly a replacement screw in the top strap. An outstanding fine and scarce Wells Fargo revolver. 4-47908 JR15 (Anderson Collection) (2,000-3,500)
