FREDERICK LEO HUNTER (American, 1858-1943) SHIP PORTRAIT OF “THE GOLDEN HIND”. Large oil on canvas seascape shows a galleon in full sail sailing right to left. Ships are seen off bow and stern and are members of the fleet. The Golden Hind was Sir Francis Drake’s ship which, in 1577 circumnavigated the world during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. Signed lower right “F. E. Hunter 1924”. Housed in its original painted wood molded frame with white liner with brass plaque. SIZE: 29” x 40”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-27905 (1,000-2,000)
