SCARCE SMITH & WESSON 38 DOUBLE ACTION 1ST MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 38 S&W. Blued finish, 3-1/4” keyhole ribbed bbl with 2-pc monogrammed smooth black, hard rubber grips. This is 1 of only approximately 4,000 built in 1880. Straight cut sideplate. SN 19. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, all matching except the grips, which are unnumbered. Bbl and frame retain about 90% bright original blue with the flaked areas a light patina. Cylinder retains about 30% bright blue with the balance flaked to light patina, and one area with moderate pitting. Grips are fine turning chocolate, showing moderate wear.
