DAVID DAVIDOVICH BURLIUK (American, 1882-1967)”APPROACH OF SPING” (Spring). Oil on wood panel shows a square in different colors, the center being red. It is surrounded by blue and yellow dashes. Titled on lower left and it is signed lower right “Burliuk 1907″ (1907 is the date in which the original painting was created). Housed in what appears to be its original wood frame which has a painted silver inner border. We believe this frame to be hand made by Burliuk. SIZE: 16-1/2″ x 15”. PROVENANCE: From the artist Sterling Boyd Strauser’s (American, 1907-1995) Collection (close friend of the artist). We believe this example is a recreation by Burliuk of a painting that was confiscated by the Russian Government in 1907. CONDITION: Very good. 9-92805 (5,000-7,000)
