GEORGE III SILVER CAKE BASKET. William Hall, London, 1780. The basket has a pierced and beaded rim. Interior with four cherub relief medallions on all four sides enclosing an central armorial shield depicting a halved shield with ribbon bow top. Stepped foot base with beaded edge. Swing bale handle with central cartouche of a winged dragon and two medallions on either side of handle depicting a woman leaning on a monument with anchor at her feet. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (FW Woolworth Dept. Store). WEIGHT: 40 tr. oz. SIZE: 11-1/2” h including handle x 14” x 10”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-29520 (2,000-4,000)
