EDWARD HENRY POTTHAST (American, 1857-1927) WESTERN SUNSET. Oil on canvas scene shows a bright sun a quarter of the way set with trees in the foreground and purple landscape. Signed lower left “E. Potthast”. Housed in a replacement gilt frame. PROVENANCE: This painting came from a large collection of Potthast works in a Texas Estate in the 1960’s. It was never framed and was found in a drawer. Relined and re-stretched by the consignor. SIZE: 11-1/4” x 13-1/4”. CONDITION: Relined, new stretcher. Some scratches to right quadrant, otherwise very good. 9-98006 (6,000-8,000)
