ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS HEWES HINCKLEY (American, 1813-1896) COWS, CHICOPEE, MASS. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows three cows with horns, two lying down, one standing in a typical Hinckley composition. They are seen in a field with other cows in a panoramic view showing a town on a flat river valley having what appears to be Mount Norwottuck and the Norwottuck Range in background. Large sky expanse with billowy white clouds. On back of stretcher appears etched Chicopee, 1844, also T.H. Hinckley, also there is a very old paper label with pencil inscription which is faded. Housed in an excellent lemon gold molded frame. SIZE: 14” x 20”. CONDITION: Three minor professional repairs, craquelure, otherwise very good. 9-94305 (5,000-8,000)
