EARLY RELIEF CARVED EAGLE PLAQUE. The rectangular, single board carving shows a spread winged eagle with shield body having left facing head, holding a banner. The outstretched legs with talon feet holding three arrows and an olive branch. The two corners with scrolled, foliate carving all against a punched background. Wonderful deep brown patina. Housed in its original, tiger maple molded wood frame. The eagle is a stylized version of the eagle in the Great Seal of the United States. SIZE: (carving) 15” h x 36” w OVERALL SIZE: 17 1/4” x 38 1/4”. CONDITION: Horizontal age cracks. Very good. 9-72085 (8,000-10,000)
