RICARDO OPISSO SALA (Spanish, 1880-1966) NIGHTTIME GATHERING. Large oil on canvas nighttime scene shows a mother with infant in arms surrounded by four children each holding a candle lantern in hands. The glow from the candles reflect on their faces. Signed upper right “S. R. Opisso”. Appears to be titled bottom right. Housed in a partial gilt carved and gesso frame with linen liner. SIZE: 28” x 36”. CONDITION: Two small holes to left figure, overpainted chips in bottom right which do not show under blacklight, craquelure. Otherwise very good. 9-70126 (2,500-3,500)
