UNSIGNED (19th Century) CASTLE RUINS ALONG THE RIVER. Oil on canvas Hudson River type painting shows a large castle in ruins on large rock cliff next to a large river leading to high mountains. Two figures are seen in the foreground with boats on the waterway. A nice sunset with colors from blue to pink. Unsigned. Housed in a fine reproduction fancy wide gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. PROVENANCE: From a Downeast, Maine Collection. SIZE: 20” x 27-1/4”. CONDITION: Small patch to reverse, minor inpainting. Otherwise very good. 9-70498 (2,500-4,000)
