HERMANN OTTOMAR HERZOG (American, 1832-1932) “WELLHORN AND WETTERHORN”. Outstanding oil on canvas Swiss Alps scene shows the famous Wellhorn and Wetterhorn mountain peaks partially covered with snow in a spring/summer landscape. The valley floor has a small river winding through hilly pastures having a large Swiss farm with cows, calves and people. Signed lower right “H. Herzog”. Title on an old penned label attached to stretcher. Housed in a period wide gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liners. SIZE: 27″ x 41-1/2″. CONDITION: Light craquelure, masking varnish present under blacklight. Very good with original canvas. 9-92937 (10,000-15,000)
