LARGE ENGRAVED AND POLYCHROME WHALE’S TOOTH. One side decorated with Sperm whale rising out of water being harpooned by man at front of small boat with five other men, “Whaling off the Feegees”. Large whaling ship in full sail flying American flag on right side. Back side has central engraving of three-mast whaling ship “Ship Vineyard AD 1859 New Bedford”. This is encircled with a rope border and shells. Top and bottom green decorated vine encircles tooth. 20th Century. SIZE: 7”. CONDITION: Natural cavity at top of base goes 1-1/2” into tooth.
