ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) CONSTITUTION UNDER SAIL. Oil on board ship portrait of what appears to be the U.S. S. Constitution. There is no name on the ship but is a three-mast frigate of the period. The ship sails from right to left in choppy green and dark blue seas. Fifteen gun placements at hull. Mid ships set with three lifeboats, several crew members are seen on deck. Partial sails are up flying US flag at stern. Signed lower right which has been partially clipped “Antonio Jacobsen”. Housed in a modern gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 28” x 48”. CONDITION: Restored with inpainting. Good. 9-72889 (7,000-10,000)
