RARE & UNUSUAL AMERICAN PARLOR RIFLE. Cal. About 177. NSN. Very unusual little rifle with 30-3/4″ oct to rnd bbl of which only about the front 5-3/4″ is actually bbl. It is loaded from the front with a single ball without a powder charge with propellant by a percussion cap, loaded through a rectangular opening in the bottom of the bbl. It has a back action lock with percussion style hammer that connects to a rod, which extends to the upper end of the bbl, which strikes the percussion cap. It is mounted in a nicely figured walnut stock with rounded pewter nose cap with the rest of the furniture made of brass. It has a serpentine trigger guard with dbl set triggers & crescent buttplate with toe plate. CONDITION: Very fine. Iron retains most of a very old professionally restored rust blue. Front sight is missing. Stock is sound and retains most of an equally fine old professionally restored finish. Mechanics are fine. 4-54274 JR475 (500-1,000)
