FINE VERMONT SHERATON MAPLE AND BIRCH CROSSBANDED BOOKCASE SECRETARY. Circa 1850. Rectangular molded cornice with reeded frieze fitted to the upper case of a pair of long cupboard doors crossbanded and simulating four doors above a pair of similar doors opening to an arrangement of pigeonholes and drawers fitted to the lower case behind a hinged lid, crossbanded with central oval bird’s-eye patera opening to a baize-line writing surface over a frieze drawer with fitted dividers, flanked by lopers, over two long crossbanded and cockbeaded drawers over two pair of cupboard doors flanked by three-quarter reeded, ring-turned, and ropetwist pilasters, continuing to reeded, ring-turned, swelled legs. The crossbanded apron with pendant spherules. SIZE: 87-1/2″ h. x 44″ w. x 20″ d. CONDITION: Very fine overall with small cosmetic repairs to veneers and some moldings; cornice right front facing re-glued. Retains old clean surfaces overall. 9-92699 (6,000-8,000)
