RARE ENGRAVED SHARPS MODEL 1851 SPORTING CARBINE.

RARE ENGRAVED SHARPS MODEL 1851 SPORTING CARBINE. Cal. 52. SN 315. 21-1/2” rnd bbl, marked “ROBBINS & / LAWRENCE” on top of the bbl, “SHARPS / PATENT / 1848” on the upper tang in front of the serial number and “EDWARD MAYNARD / PAT…” on the primer door. There is no sling ring bar but the screw for it is in place. There is very light engraving on the action and bbl. The buttplate and bbl band are silver-plated. Additional Note: This carbine came from the H. Robbins Ritter Collection. He distributed the U.S. Cartridge Co. Collection. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with traces of color on the action. Wood has numerous dents and scratches and a light crackling to the varnish. Hammer and lever pin have been repaired. Action is good. 4-52565 FS13 (8,000-12,000)
