UNSIGNED (American, 19th Century) SHIP PORTRAIT “AURORA OF SAN FRANCISCO”. This 19th Century watercolor is of a white hulled, two-mast sailing vessel in a choppy blue sea with three vessels in the background. The ship is flying both the American flag and a pennant “Aurora”. Three figures are illustrated onboard. Titled “Aurora of San Francisco”. This is a rare 19th Century depiction of the San Francisco-based sailing vessel. Housed in an old gilt frame. SIGHT SIZE: 27” w x 21”h; overall including white painted border 30”w x 24”h. CONDITION: There is a small repaired tear in the border at the top, otherwise generally very good. 8-87173 (4,500-5,500)
